From a small kitchen in Mesa to a beloved community staple — here's how our story unfolded.

2009

The Beginning

Cafe Rio opens its doors for the first time at 2748 S Signal Butte Rd, Mesa, AZ. Founders Maria and Carlos Rio start with a small menu of 12 handcrafted dishes, welcoming the neighborhood with warm food and warmer smiles.

2012

First Expansion

Demand exceeds capacity. We expanded our dining room, doubled our kitchen staff, and introduced our beloved weekend brunch menu — which quickly became a Mesa institution.

2015

Community Recognition

Cafe Rio wins the Mesa Business Excellence Award for Outstanding Community Impact. We launch our "Feed the Neighborhood" initiative, providing meals to local shelters every Sunday.

2018

Catering Launch

We introduce full-service catering for corporate events, weddings, and private parties across the greater Phoenix area. Within a year, catering becomes a cornerstone of our business.

2021

Digital Transformation

We launch online ordering and delivery, making Cafe Rio accessible to more customers than ever before. Our digital menu and seamless cart experience bring the restaurant right to your door.

2024

Franchise Program

Cafe Rio officially launches its franchise program, inviting passionate entrepreneurs to carry our mission forward across new communities. The future of Cafe Rio is bigger and brighter than ever.
